Rasnov, Romania

I spent :

NA

Places to Eat & Drink

  • Restaurant Rosenau

Nice traditional restaurant & pizza - waiters could be more polite though.

Places to Stay

  • Vila Victoria

Nice villa for a few days of rest & relaxation, also good traditional food. Services were good, accommodation excellent.

Notes

Cheile Rasnoavei

Went for some snow and ski, but the warm, spring-like weather made us take some walks throught the mountains. And actually pick some flowers :)

Cheile Rasnoavei is right near Rasnov, the place we stayed, and it actually makes for a nice walk. Also bungee jumping, if you like extreme stuff.

Rasnov citadela

Then we tried to visit the local citadel, Rasnov, but unfortunately it was closed so we only saw it from the outside. It was a bit sad, because I really wanted to see this well kept XIII century fortress, one of the few existent medieval places in Romania.

Prapastiile Zarnestilor

Passing through Piatra Craiului mountants, Zarnesti is another lovely place to hike and climb, if you're up to that. For us it was a lovely 1,5h walk through the mountains, admiring the great rock walls that surrounded us. Here are some pic's.

Sat Magura - Piatra Craiului

Lovely mountain village in Piatra Craiului mountains. From Zarnesti, you just drive up in the mountains. But careful - you need a good engine and some guts to get up there. The road is spectacular, but pretty difficult.
But the view pays off. I'd stay there for a couple of days next time, just to leave all city buzz behind, and enjoy the fresh air and welcoming people.
